VIDEO

Growing up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bruce began playing and writing music at the age of twelve and studied guitar with the late Dave “Snaker” Ray, of Koerner, Ray, and Glover fame (Midwest Folk-Blues Legends). At age 19, Bruce moved to New Orleans, where family friends ran the world famous Preservation Jazz Hall. He immersed himself in the region's rich musical tapestry, learning how to play everything from New Orleans Jazz and R&B to Cajun and Blues. All the while he continued to write his own songs and eventually became interested in Country music after being wowed by a copy of Hank Williams’ greatest hits. Over time, he broadened his style even further with stints in Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Nashville; San Francisco; and more recently Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where he now resides.

Bruce performs regularly as a solo artist, with The Bruce Gerrish Band,

Del Rio Duo, Mardi Gras Mambo &The Shinolas. His “Quirkophony” album is a seamless combination of Roots, Blues, Folk, New Orleans Boogie, Texas Swing and sincere ballads that are currently receiving airplay on CBC Canada, BBC Scotland, and in Germany and Holland
